  • Aerodrome

    The Lockhart River Aerodrome Company Pty Ltd is wholly owned by the Lockhart River Shire Council. It is responsible for the operation of the Lockhart River airport and nearby Iron Range Cabins, and the sale of aviation and diesel fuel.
  • Art centre

    Many young Aborigines from Lockhart River continue to make their mark on contemporary Australian society while remaining connected to their cultural identity through the regional and world-class indigenous art centre.
  • BMX track

    The much-anticipated BMX track will be a well-used and welcome addition to facilities in Lockhart River for our young people.
  • Fuel

    Unleaded petrol is available at the retail fuel pump operated by the Lockhart River general store.
  • Health centre

    Lockhart River is served by a 24-hour primary health care centre which includes a visiting team of Cairns allied health professionals.
  • Housing (rent/rates)

    Rents for community housing is paid to the council, who own and maintain the houses, on behalf of the Queensland Government. Many people in community housing are struggling financially since the introduction of a new State Government rent policy.
  • Police station

  • Postal agency

    An Australia Post agency facilitates a regular mail service as well as the sale of general postal items such as postage stamps, envelopes, post bags and parcels.
  • Puuya centre

    In the traditional Kuuku Ya’u language, our puuya is our life force. It is the motivation we need to build a better future for ourselves, and ultimately, our community.
  • Retail stores

    Lockhart River community is well serviced by TWO retail stores offering groceries and other essential items.
